Can you sand marble floors.

While this method will work fine for statues tile and marble countertops sanding large areas of marble like marble floors requires a completely different process and technique. Both polishing compounds and diamond abrasive disks will successfully grind. You can polish the flooring either by dry sanding or wet sanding. Can you sand or grind marble down.

Remove any scratches from the marble floor tiles by honing the surface. To remove stains i needed a poultice which is essentially a substance that can sit on the marble s surface and reabsorb the stain. Many of the same virtues found with marble floor tile can be achieved with porcelain tiles. Unfortunately its porous surface means that marble can be scratched easily.

If you have a marble surface such as a marble countertop that is in a high traffic area honed marble may be more appealing to you. Marble floor polishing can remove small scratches. First wet sand the marble to wear away any scratches or etch marks then buff it to leave a smooth finish. While the subtle veining of marble makes for a completely unique floor a remarkably similar look can be achieved by modern porcelain tiles which now can be manufactured to realistically mimic a wide variety of materials including natural stone and wood.

With a little elbow grease though you can able to buff out many scratches along with etch marks left by acidic substances. This will require using a wet sanding process to achieve the desired results. Sanding marble is a time consuming process. Use special silicone carbide sandpaper in range of grits to slowly work out those imperfections.

Things were looking really good after the wet sanding but there was still some yellow ish discoloration on a few parts of the marble deep set in stains that i wondered if i could improve. You want to avoid anything abrasive on the surface and dirt and sand being dragged around by a vacuum could do more damage than you intend. Because it has a matte finish it will be able to hide any imperfections such as scratches and etches better than polished marble can.
